No Vacancy In Rivers Brick House Till 2031, Group Warns …Wants Mpigi To Account For Constituency Dev Funds
A non-governmental youth organisation (NGO) in Rivers State, the Rivers South-East Development Forum (RISOEDEF), says that there is no vacancy in Rivers Brick-House not until 2031 when Governor Siminalayi Fubara might have completed his administration’s eight years of purposeful, people-oriented and quality leadership.
This is contained in a statement by the group in Bori, headquarters of Khana Local Government Area and signed by its President, Prof. Hector Pepple, Secretary, Dr. Charles Barikor and Public Relations Officer, Arc. Vitalis Okere; after its enlarged congress meeting recently.
The group maintained that all those clamouring for the state number one job are advised in their own interest to reserve their ambition, noting that the incumbent, who is from the senatorial district must have to complete his eight years tenure in 2031 before anybody can fit into the position.
It stressed that Governor Fubara’s pro-people development projects and programmes in the state eight months running of the administration remained wonderful testaments of a dogged leader who is poise to build better and progressive Rivers State of our need.
“We would like to thank Governor Siminalayi Fubara for the wonderful work he has done in the last nine months. We knew that in a year or two, people will keep talking about Siminalayi Fubara. We all have not seen the value of work he has done but he is like a builder who is building the foundation for a 100-storey building. We thank him, his wife, Deputy and members of his team for supporting him tremendously and giving him the courage, hope and strength to go through the vicissitudes of the last nine months. We are only a tool in this process and promise you all that Governor Fubara will be a useful tool in this administration. Rivers State by God’s ultimate grace will move from where immediate past administration under former governor and now Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Chief Nyesom Wike has carried us to a more prosperous future.”
The group, however, urged those whose interest is to run down the state under the present dispensation to distant themselves forthwith or be ready to face the wrath of Riversyouths, who are prepared for them in 2027 general elections.
The body also “thank the good people of Rivers State. Resilient citizen; business-driven, brilliant, hardworking, visionary, focused and willing to move our state into prosperity,” it stated.
Reiterating the need for a united Rivers State of our founding fathers dreams under Governor Siminalayi Fubara, the group said it was only with a formidable and united front that the PDP government in the state could excel and succeed in the mission of consolidating on the impactful work the governor and the party has started in the oil and gas-rich state.
Meanwhile, the organization has called on the Senator representing Rivers South-East Senatorial District in the Red Chambers of the National Assembly, Dr.Barinada Mpigi to explain vividly why under his representation six years ago, there are no tangible development projects in the seven local government areas of Khana, Gokana, Tai, Eleme, Andoni, Opobo/Nkoro and Oyigbo in the district, describing his administration as “most unfortunate and disappointing.”
It also urge him to account without delay the constituency development funds for the people of Rivers South-East Senatorial District, before clamouring to become Rivers Governor in 2027.
“We cannot give our mandate to a parochial leader like Barry Mpigi for our dear state, who is one of the enemies of quality services to our state, thathas failed the people of the district without a single project even in his own Tai LGA.
“We admonish him to shelve his ambition as we are going to disappoint him, his acclaimed mentor, Chief Nyesom Wike and the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, among others of their cohorts.”
