Rivers Begins Four-Day Armed Forces Remembrance Celebrations, Jan 12
The Secretary to the State Government, Dr Tammy Wenike Danagogo, has reiterated that Rivers State Government has remained consistent in caring for veterans, widows of fallen officers and officers in active service in the state.
Danagogo said this while speaking during the meeting of the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Central Planning Committee members in Port Harcourt, last Friday.
He thanked the committee members for their contributions to the success of the Emblem Appeal Fund Ceremony held recently in the state.
The SSG called on the members to redouble their efforts so that the state can record resounding success in the remaining activities spread across four days.
Accordingly to him, events will begin with Jumaàt Prayers on Friday, 12th January at the Nigerian Army Central Mosque, 6 Division, Bori Camp, Port Harcourt.
On Sunday, 14th January, an Interdenominational Church Thanksgiving Service will hold at St. Cyprian Anglican Church, Port Harcourt Township.
Danagogo also stated that the grand-finale with Wreath-Laying Ceremony will hold on Monday, 15th January at the Isaac Boro Park Cenotaph, Mile 1 Fly-Over, Port Harcourt.
He noted that, one of the highlights of the events would be the laying of wreaths by the state Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, and heads of the security agencies.
