Rivers NNPP Promises Better Performance In Future Elections
The Chairman, Caretaker Committee of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), Rivers State, Hon. Ogbeke Henry Ovie, has promised better outing for the party in subsequent elections in the country.
He said this in an interview with newsmen in Port Harcourt shortly after the inauguration of the caretaker committee of the party in the State.
It would be recalled that following the crisis that engulfed the party at the national level, Rivers State and other state chapters were dissolved and new caretaker committees set up.
In Rivers State, Hon Ovie was appointed Chairman, Godson Green, Secretary, while Magdalene Tolofari, Abdullahi Abubakar Ibrahim and Victor Waribo Daniel were appointed as members.
Addressing newsmen shortly after the inauguration of the committee in Port Harcourt, Ovie said the party is putting its house in order to enable it come out victorious in subsequent elections in the country.
Denying the existence of factions in the party, Ovie said, “We don’t know about any factions. All we know is that there are some group of persons who are parading as members of t he state executive of the party”.
He said by the dissolution of the State Executive Committee of the party, no other person can parade himself except the caretaker members.
Ovie said the party’s constitution provided for a caretaker committee to be set-up in the event of dissolution of party executives.
According to him, those suspended were involved in anti-party activities.
Also speaking, Secretary of the Caretaker Committee, Hon Godson Green, said the party is planning for its future.
According to him, “As we are picking up our pieces and planning for our future, the new caretaker committee has picked-up and trying to put things together in the party by bringing everybody on board and making sure that the party is growing stronger”.
He said members should have confidence in the new executive of the party, adding that by the development, NNPP will be a party to beat in the coming elections.
