Media Partnership Excites Bayelsa Judiciary

The Bayelsa State Judiciary has lauded the Media for effective reportage of its activities in the outgoing year.
The Judiciary attributed the feat via positive and balanced reportage of its activities to the efforts put by the Media and Information Department of its High Court.
Chief Registrar of the State High Court, Mr Amaebi Orukari, who spoke at the end of year get together of the Media and Information Department of the High Court, noted that publicising the Judiciary was challenging and Judges are not allowed to grant press interviews.
He said the Judiciary values the media coverage provided to highlight its activities and programmes in the process of dispensing justice.
He noted that the recognition and honour to outstanding staff of the Media and Information Department and media organisations would boost productivity and morale.
Amongst the awardees was the Chief Judge of the State, Justice Kate Abiri, who was honoured with an award for her supportive leadership of the State Judiciary.
Also honoured at the event were, Vivian Gilbert of a Yenagoa-based radio station, People’s FM.
Others were, Nathan Nwakamma, the Bayelsa State Correspondent of News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Mrs Sarah Avoh, a Chief Magistrate, and Queen Odu.
Others who were honoured included, Mrs Margaret Agbi, who emerged as Best Staff of the Year; Enoch Okonobo, Ryce Wowigitari, Goddy Lammie, Ebi Kuro of the ICT Department, Rachael Tiebiri, and Amaebi Orukari, Chief Registrar, High Court.
Speaking to newsmen shortly after the event, Head, Media and Information Department, Mr Julius Nyananyo, said the award was to show appreciation to outstanding staff and organisations for their contributions to the success in the outgoing year.
He appealed to the award-recipients to sustain the efforts in the coming years.
