UPWA’s Secondary School Takes Off In PH
University of Port Harcourt Women Association (UPWA) has established a secondary school for its members’ children and the public and the school has already commenced academic activities.
The President of the association, Dr. Udeme Oruwari Georgewill, who dropped this hint said admission for new students has already commenced for academic activities.
Georgewill disclosed this while narrating some of her achievements to journalists in her office in Port Harcourt on Friday.
According to her, the school has been approved by Rivers State Ministry of Education; consequently, the school is also allowed to sit Junior and Senior, West African School Certificate( WASC.)Examination.
“The establishment of the school has created employment for the State and we will employ more staff as the school increases in population.
“Rivers State Ministry of Education has accredited the school to hold Junior and Senior WASC Examinations and we are quite happy. I want to equally say that the school has qualified teachers that have the promote to offer quality education and produce quality students.
“Apart from establishing a secondary school for the association, I was able to sustain the unity among members. Also, new members were admitted; we held seminars and also participated in the celebration of the International Women Day. We equally rendered assistance to members,” she said.
University of Port Harcourt Women Association started over 40 years ago and it was founded by the wife of the first Vice Chancellor of the university.
Georgewill promised to continually run an open door policy, bearing in mind that positions are temporary and advised women to always love themselves at all times.
