RVHA Passes 2023-2025 Medium Term Expenditure Frame Work
The Rivers State House of Assembly has passed the Rivers State Medium Term Expenditure Framework 2023/2025 with the sum of N500billion on the floor of the house.
The Speaker of the house, Rt Hon Ikuinyi-OwajiIbani, while passing the MTEF, yesterday, said the budget policy statement as submitted to the house would promote economic development in the state.
Ibani also stated that part of the objective of the statement was to create a peaceful society and promote the rule of law and justice to all and ensure quick dispensation of justice.
According to him, “the policy trust of the statement is to address the economic inequality and ensure social development in the state.
“It will ensure all-round infrastructural and regional development in the state.It will as well promote balanced road network in the state. This includes water supply, electricity, and of course, job creation”, he said.
The speaker of the house, however, put the total budget for 2023 fiscal year at over N500billion, adding that this would ensure efficient service delivery and implementation.
While the debate was on, the Majority Leader of the house, Hon Martin Amaewhule, anticipated that the state should sustain the current budget reform programme and ensure leakages in policy implementation were blocked.
The house adjourned sitting to November 21, 2022.
The Tide learnt that the Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, may likely present the 2023 budget on the floor of the house at the next sitting.
