Union Hands Over Tai Staudents’ Data To LG Boss
The President of National Union of Tai Students Worldwide, Mr. Alexander Waah has handed over the details of Tai students in tertiary institutions, including Masters, PGD and PhD, respectively to the Chairman of the Local Government Council, Sir MbakponeOkpe for bursary consideration and subsequent payments.
It would be recalled that on January22, 2022, in a radio announcement, the leadership of Tai Local Government Councildirected all students of the LG origin to submit their data to the council for processing.
All chapter presidents of the National Union of Tai Students were also directed to collate data of students on their various campuses to ensure effective dissemination of the information.
Consequently, 768 undergraduate students were collated and captured, while postgraduates students captured were 53 students, bringing the total number of students’ data collated to 821.
A statement by the council had indicated that the Chairman of Tai LGA, Sir MbakponeOkpe, had promised in one of his campaigns, during the Local Government election, that if voted into office, his administration will deliberately provide financial support for the students of Tai Local Government Area in universities in Nigeria.
Since last year, the chairman has made positive efforts towards assisting Tai students.
