Suspected Cultist Stabs Rival To Death In Rivers
A 25-year-old man identified as Omemma has been reportedly stabbed to death by members of a rival cult group in the Mile 1, Diobu axis of Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The victim, who was said to be a member of a notorious gang in the area, was said to have been going about his normal activities when the assailant attacked and inflicted several knife cuts on him.
A source in the area, who pleaded anonymity for fear of his life, said that Omemma’s demise was a reprisal against an earlier attack suspected to have been launched by his group.
The incident caused commotion in the area as traders and commuters took to their heels before local vigilantes intervened, and calm was finally restored.
The acting state Police Public Relations Officer, Grace Iringe-Iroko, confirmed the incident, saying an investigation has been ordered to unmask the attackers.
“I won’t say it was a rival cult attack. It is safe to say he was stabbed by an unknown person. For now, the matter is under investigation.
“There is calm now and after our investigation, we will be able to know who carried out the attack,” she stated.
