Commissioner Bags NAWOJ’s ‘Icon Of Education Award’
In recognition of the laudable achievements in the education sector, the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) in the State has given the Commissioner for Education, Prof. Kaniye Ebeku an Icon of Education Award.
The association gave the award during the investiture of the Commissioner as the Patron of NAWOJ.
Presenting the award, the Chairperson of NAWOJ, Comrade Susan Serekara-Nwikhana noted that Prof. Ebeku was indeed a lecturer and a mentor whom NAWOJ has been privileged to tap from his wealth of knowledge.
She said that Prof Ebeku who was listed amongst the first top 10 law researchers in Nigeria in 2021 despite his engagements in the state as Education Commissioner clinched the 6th position out of 3,570 lecturers in the current Scientific Index rankings of researchers in the field of Law.
NAWOJ Chairperson further lauded his outstanding contributions to education, human and capital development as well as upliftment of humanity, noting that NAWOJ has in recognition of all those contributions found him worthy to be her patron.
Responding, the elated Commissioner thanked NAWOJ for recognising and appreciating his efforts in the Ministry of Education and expressed readiness to be the association’s Patron.
He urged NAWOJIANS to be faithful with the truth in their reports, adding that he never knew NAWOJ had been taking records of his achievements in the education sector.
Prof. Ebeku whose investiture as NAWOJ Patron was part of the activities to mark his birthday stressed the need to be humble irrespective of his social status, adding that whatever he is today was given to him by God whom he owes all the glory.
