Bible Society Seeks Support, Partnership
The people of Wakirike in Okrika, Ogu/Bolo and parts of the Port Harcourt Local Government Areas in the State have been enjoined to whole heartily support the Bible Society of Nigeria to expand the Okrika language spoken by them.
This call was made at Bolo in Ogu/Bolo Local Government by the Chairman of Rivers/ Bayelsa Area of the Society, Elder Omoni Ayo-Tamuno, during the presentation of Special Membership Certificate to the Amanyanabo of Bolo, King Acheseinimie M. Frank, his wife and Engineer Andrew Minadiki and wife at the Saint Gabriel Anglican Church, Bolo.
Elder Ayo-Tamuno reiterated the desire of the BSN to partner with the various language groups in the State and the nation to translate the Bible into their languages.
He said the Okrika and Kalabari language Bibles translated by the Society was aimed at making the people to understand the written Word of God and serve God better.
The Area Chairman, called on the people of the three Local Government Areas to always support BSN to do more translations and bring the Word of God to the door steps of all Christians.
Elder Ayo-Tamuno stated that with the translation, the Okrika Language had been preserved and by extension their culture at all times.
He admitted King Frank and Engineer Mindiki into the highest level of membership of the BSN on behalf of the Life Patron of the Society, General Yakubu Gowon, former Head State of Nigeria.
Speaking later, King Frank pledged that he would continue to assist and support the BSN to achieve its aims and objectives.
Earlier in his sermon at the occasion, the Rector of Saint Gabriel Anglican Church, Bolo District, Venerable J. I.D. Ibioyemie, stressed the need for Christians to use their position to serve God.
He lauded the positive impact the Bible Society is creating to spread the Gospel of Christ and encouraged more Christians to enroll as members of the Society.

Technology Key to Nigeria’s Socio-Economic Development, Says Computer Scientist
Dr. Legborsi Emmanuel, former state Chairman of the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), has emphasized that technology is the sure way for Nigeria’s socio-economic development.
He made this assertion while speaking with newsmen at the sideline of 118th inaugural lecture series of Rivers State University (RSU) held in port Harcourt, wednesday.
He stressed that the lecture, which focused on emerging technology and its impact on the socio-economic development of the country, aligns with the NCS’s economic focus.
He highlighted the importance of building an economy driven by technology, citing the success of the Rivers State Smart Economy policy as an example.
The computer scientist emphasized the need for innovation and doing things differently, asserting that “technology is the only way out” for Nigeria’s development. He praised the lecturer, Professor Mathias Daniel, for exploring the applications of technology in various sectors, including agriculture, industry, transport, and socio-economics.
Dr. Emmanuel underscores the critical role technology plays in driving socio-economic growth and development in Nigeria by leveraging technology, the country can unlock new opportunities and address pressing challenges.
