Nisirim Rates ABEC High In Academic Standard
The Rivers State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Pastor Paulinus Nsirim, has said that Archdeacon Brown Educational Centre (ABEC) remains a major driver in private school proprietorship in Rivers State and beyond.
The commissioner, who said this at the 15th valedictory ceremony of the school in Port Harcourt, noted that the ministry was proud of the achievements of the centre.
According to him, “available records show that in the past 20 years of ABEC’s existence, it has made the government and people of Rivers State proud as a major driver in private school propertorship, not only in the state, the Niger Delta, but also across Nigeria and globally,” he said.
Nsirim, who was represented by the Director, Planning, Research and Statistics in the ministry, Dan Fiberesima Orawari urged the management and staff of the school to sustain the standard for which ABEC was known for.
In a sermon, the Bishop of Evo Diocese of the Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion, Rt Rev. Innocent Ordu charged the gradaunds to be good ambassadors of the school.
Ordu described the ceremony as the beginning of another journey for the outgoing students, especially those wishing to further their education.
The cleric urged them to acquire more knowledge with a view to gathering proper exposure, and advised against things that would bring shame to both their families, Alma Mata and the larger society.
Ordu also charged them to aim for excellence, adding that it was the only way they can be distinguished from the crowd.
Also speaking, the Managing Director/Chief Executive of ABEC, Dr. Christy Toby said the centre has set a standard that would be difficult to beat in the country.
She said teachers in the centre were all ICT compliant, while students were also taught the rudiment of information and communication technology (ICT).
Toby said the centre has special school for the physically impaired and also an inclusive education centre.
Over 74 students participated in the valedictory programme.
