Rivers Weightlifters Set For Edo 2020
Assistant Coach of the Rivers State Weightlifting Association, Mike Oyekachi, has said that his team is prepared for the “Edo 2020” National Sports Festival (NSF) which may hold in Edo State.
Oyekachi disclosed this yesterday, in an exclusive interview with Tidesports in Port Harcourt.
According to him, the athletes are ready for the fiesta and are determined to do their utmost best, when the competition eventually gets under way, but expressed uncertainty on the possibility of the fiesta holding this month, as expected.
“We are set for the fiesta, though, a bit worried about the situation on ground. The NSF is expected to hold this Month and the endSARS protest came, now we have doubts if it would hold or not,” Mike Oyekachi said.
He said that his team is prepared for the festival before the endSARS protest came up, saying that, there are doubts, if the competition would still hold, as scheduled.
“Yes the athletes now have their training sessions to keep fit and also fortify themselves ahead of the competition peradventure it holds as expected it would enable them compete favourably at the games, when it eventually gets under way,” Oyekachi said.
It would be recalled that all State Directors of Sports across the Federation were to meet to decide a date for the “EDO 2020”festival before the endSARS protest came up.
