Bayelsa Set To Attract Investment Through Culture, Tourism
Bayelsa State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr.Iti Orugbani, says tourism can boost the Internally Generated Revenue IGR of the state as well as create job opportunities.
He said the state had rich culture and the potentials of being a tourists delight,saying the Prosperity Government of Governor Douye Diri will leverage on the state’s culture and tourism industry like other areas for the economic revival of the state.
Dr Orugbani stated this in Yenagoa at the weekend during a tour of agencies, parastatals and facilities under the ministry.
The commissioner pledged government preparedness to reposition the sector by supporting and making the appropriate and strategic investments in the duo sub-sectors towards achieving expected results so that both local and foreign tourists can be wooed to the state.
He noted that the tourism industry was capable of totally changing the image and perception of Bayelsa State from a state alleged to be hostile and dependent, to an exceptionally safe, peaceful and prosperous tourists and investors haven.
