Gunmen Shoot Illoabuchi Vigilante Member
Unknown gunmen, yesterday, stormed Illoabuchi in the Mile 2 area of Diobu in Port Harcourt City Local Government Area of Rivers State, and shot one of the vigilante members on his buttocks.
The Tide was reliably informed by eyewitnesses that the gunmen, numbering about four, last Tuesday night targeted members of the Diobu Vigilante, and shot one of them at D-Tiger axis of Illabouchi, Mile 2, Diobu.
The Secretary of Diobu Vigilante Group, Prince Amatari, told newsmen that the gunmen, who drove in a Toyota Camry vehicle, stormed the street at about 8:20pm, and opened fire on one of the vigilante members, Mr Kelvin Dappa.
He explained that the gunmen were fully armed as Dappa was shot at the buttocks and the bullets pierced his laps.
The Tide learnt that the victim was currently receiving treatment at Rivers State University Teaching Hospital.
Already, the matter has been reported to Azikiwe Divisional Police Headquarters.
Recall that Prince Amatari narrowly escaped death on September 20, 2018, when gunmen suspected to be assassins, invaded his residence and killed two persons.
It is believed that the gunmen may be cultists and armed robbers who consider operations of the vigilante as threat to their activities.
