JISEMA Disburses N3.1m Cash To 106 Fire Victims
The Jigawa State Emergency Management Agency (JISEMA), says it has disbursed over N3.1 million to victims of fire outbreak in Ringim Local Government Area of the state.
Executive Secretary of the agency, Alhaji Sani Yusuf Babura, made this known to newsmen in Dutse yesterday.
Yusuf said that the amount was disbursed to 106 victims of fire outbreak that occurred in Barebari village of Ringim LGA.
The Tide source reports that the fire, which happened on April 19, destroyed 60 houses, including animals and food stuff in the village.
He explained that the cash assistance was given to the victims based on the level of damage each recorded.
The executive secretary added that the assistance was provided by the state government to alleviate the suffering of the victims, as well as to enable them rebuild their houses.
He said the exercise was conducted after the agency had conducted an assessment of the level of damage caused by the fire outbreak.
Yusuf, therefore, warned people in the state against careless use of fire, particularly cooking fire in order to avoid fire disaster, particularly in rural communities, adding that most of the houses in rural areas were thatched and could easily catch fire.
