Popular Nigerian musician, actor and Lawyer Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz has again threw shades at the Federal Government, Nigerian Pastors and the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) over the case of Hijab etc, in is new song titled “Talk.”
Some of the lyrics from the song says “four years tenure, three years holiday, we buy your story, you no give us change, in 2019, 19800 alawee” etc. With this new song, Falz has since stirred reactions from Nigerians as some compare him to Afro beat legend, Fela Anikulapo Kuti.
After releasing “This is Nigeria,” Falz came out with yet another controversial socio-conscious song that addresses critical happenings and advises the youths to be weary of greedy politicians produced by Yung Willis the Video shows the rapper criticises the corrupt practices politicians engage in as well as issues regarding christianity and tribalism in the country.
The video themed in a video game format sees Falz driving around town along side his team, while different scenes relating to the lyric playout, the visuals portray a young boy playing a video game in which he controls Falz giving the options to save Nigeria, relocate to Yankee or join gang. The boy chooses Falz to save his country dressing him up as a judge or the leader of h is own party.
The over reaching message of the song and accompanying music video is that people should not be afraid to talk about the problems they face as talking is the first step in solving issues. Having watched the video and the message it puts across, a Nigerian singer M. I. Abaga is of the view that Falz safety should be prioritized, “Falz needs to be protected at all costs,” he said.
Recall that Falz was heavily chastised following the release of “this is Nigeria” the song was later banned by the Nigeria Broadcasting Commission (NBC) on the basis that it contained in decent and vulgar lyrics. Falz however argued that it was wrong for the NBC to ban the song because it was not vulgar rather it’s a socially conscious piece of art which addresses some of the current issues facing or challenging the country.
He later fled a one hundred million suit against the NBC as he declared the commission’s decision as wrongful and unconstitutional.
