2019 Polls: Cleric Warns Against Violence
The Presiding Bishop of Home of God Vineyard Mission, Port Harcourt, Rt. Rev. James Egbe has said that God will not forgive any politician who encourages violence during the forthcoming 2019 elections in the country.
Bishop Egbe who said this at the grandfinale of a four day mountain camp 2018 programme of the Church at Eagle Island, Port Harcourt said, winning elections through violence would not bring the desired change to Nigeria.
The cleric said Nigerians needed to be allowed to make their decisions on who their leaders should be.
Bishop Egbe also stressed the need for those in position of authority to put God first in all they do and blamed the economic woes confronting the country on lack of fear of God among the leaders.
He said, the theme of the four days programme In the mountain of the Lord, it will be provided” was to assure the people of the Lord’s desire to visit them, stressing that God is now ready to deliver His people from oppression, poverty and deprivations.
Also speaking, the member representing Andoni, Opobo/Nkoro Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Hon. Awasinombet Abiante urged them to acknowledge the faithfulness of God in their lives, this year.
Hon. Abiante who was represented by Atanfut Ereforokuma also urged them to pray regularly for the leadership of the State to succeed.
On his part, the Resident Pastor of the Church, Hinas Michael Timialu said the programme was meant to prepare members of the Church for 2019.
