Cleric Blames Youth Violence On Poor Upbringing
A Christian cleric in Rivers State, Pastor Mourince Priscillia, has attributed some violence and restiveness in the society to improper upbringing of children by parents.
Speaking with The Tide in Port Harcourt, the pastor in charge of Awaiting Christ Ministry in Port Harcourt charged parents not to shy away from their responsibilities in ensuring the peace and development on the society.
The clergy, noted that most violence rocking the society was carried out by the youths, saying that if adequate training was given to the youth, violence in the society would be reduced to the barest minimum.
Mourince further attributed marriage break-up to irresponsible up-bringing of children, which she described as some of the relevant factors that cause youth restiveness in the society.
She called on women to avoid divorce in order not to truncate the proper upbringing of children in the society.
The pastor also decried government’s failure in fulfilling its obligation to create an enabling environment for quality education.
Mourince, who also attributed lack of development and insecurity in the country to poor education policy, said introduction of quality education would help to reduce social vices and pave way to even development in the country.
“Parent play vital roles in bringing up children in the society, sometimes lack of maturity among parents in managing their homes makes children to be corrupt.
“Some parents fail to manage their homes properly, but devoted their attentions to their career works and issues outside their homes”, she said.
