Rivers Promises Corps Members Of Security
The Rivers State Government has reiterated that it would continue to provide security and conducive environment for youth corps members posted to the state to carry out their assignment, assuring that priority would be given to their welfare.
The state Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, made the remarks at the closing ceremony of Batch ‘B Stream 1’ Orientation Course of National Youth Service Corps at Nonwa Gbam, Tai Local Government Area.
Represented by Secretary to the State Government, Kenneth Kobani, the governor said that corps members as an enlightened segment of the youth population, have vital roles to play in the build up and actual process of 2019 general elections.
Wike announced that government was willing to reward exemplary performances as part of the statutory responsibility of government.
Earlier in his address, the state Coordinator of NYSC, Mr. Chinwendu Chukwu, who commended the state government’s support in ensuring an enabling environment for the corps members in the state, urged the corps members to remember that the nation reposes so much confidence in them, calling on them not to disappoint her.
Chukwu said that the corps members have exhibited a high sense of discipline, hardwork, patriotism, and teamwork and other such character traits that qualify them as future leaders who are ready to contribute towards the development and growth of the nation.
