SOMTEC Boss Lauds Motherless Home Workers
The Chairman, Social Mobilisation Technical Committee (SOMTEC) of the Ministry of Information and Orientation, Pauline Eba has lauded the efforts and selfless services rendered by the Motherless home workers.
Eba, who is also the State Director of Information, Ministry of Information and Orientation, gave the commendation recently when she led her team on a visit to the Motherless Babies Home at Uwanse, Calabar.
She said that the team was impressed at the humanitarian services rendered to the babies and encouraged the workers to continue in their effort for giving hope to the hopeless.
Eba observed that one’s wealth was meaningless if no portion of it was set aside to bring succour to the less privileged in the society, adding that the visit was part of its social responsibility.
Earlier, the Social Mobilisation Technical Committee Programme Officer, Ministry of Information and Orientation, Mrs. Anita Ekpenyong informed the management of the home that SOMTEC was made up of officers drawn from ministries, departments and agencies in federal and state governments and also non-governmental Organisations with the aim of actualising government programmes especially in health care services.
She said that the team which was set up by United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF) to work with line ministries had been supported by UNICEF to undertake sensitisation and awareness on the essential family practices in order to boost healthy living.
According to her, the visit was to accord the team an opportunity to extend goodwill to the babies, while also praying to God to sustain them.
In her response, the officer in charge of the home, Mrs. Felicia Oti commended members of SOMTEC for the show of love and called on well wishers as well as philanthropic groups to always remember the Home.
The visit witnessed presentation of food items, toiletries among others and also prayers offered to God to perfect His will for the children.
