PDP Chieftain Faults Buhari’s Planned Visit To Rivers
A stalwart of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State, Hon Dinebari Loolo has faulted the planned visit of President Muhammadu Buhari to Rivers State on security grounds, describing the arrangement as “embarrassing and insulting to the sensibilities of Rivers people”.
Loolo, a former deputy leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly, who spoke with The Tide on the planned Presidential visit, said it was totally wrong to equate Rivers State with insecurity flashpoints like Yobe, Borno, Benue, Taraba, Adamawa State, and others.
He said there was no justification for Buhari’s visit as it was belated and politically-motivated, coming nearly after three years of his inauguration as president.
Loolo further disclosed that the president’s visit could only be acceptable, if he (the President) was coming to congratulate Governor Nyesom Wike over his developmental strides in Rivers State, as there were no federal projects to be commissioned by the president.
“The planned visit of President Buhari is a misnomer; there is no basis at all for the visit.
“All Progressives Congress (APC) has failed Rivers people and Nigerians in general; the APC should stop deceiving the people and admit their glaring failure as a party”, Loolo said.
The former lawmaker and grassroots politician also flayed the APC over the tag on Rivers State as a crisis-ridden state, noting that Rivers State was peaceful and safe for investments.
He pointed out that Governor Nyesom Wike had funded the security agencies through the provision of logistics and incentives to fight crime than all the states in Nigeria put together.
The Khana Local Government-born legal practitioner and politician also stated that the vigilance of Rivers people has averted the plot of the APC to plunge the state into chaos and anarchy.
