Group Passes Vote Of Confidence On Wike
The youth wing of Christian Association of Nigeria, Rivers State chapter says it has passed a vote of confidence on the state Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike for peaceful co-existence and infrastructural development in the state.
The Christian youths also passed a vote of confidence on the Special Adviser to the Governor on Inter-Religious Affairs, Bishop Winston T. Iwo for effective representation of the Christian community in the state.
The State Chairman of the group, Ekiye C. Ekiye stated this while briefing journalists at the state secretariat of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Port Harcourt during a solidarity visit by the group to the Benue State government recently.
Ekiye said the Christian youths in the state had x-rayed Governor Wike’s performance in the state especially in the area of projects delivery, adding that Governor Wike had provided people-oriented leadership in the state.
He said the group was satisfied with the various advancements and developmental steps taken by the present administration in the state in the quest to make life more meaningful for the people.
According to him, the governor’s determination to build and complete the Ecumenical Centre in the state where Christians of different denominations could come together to pray was responsible for the prevailing peace in the state.
Ekiye further disclosed that the group had noted with admiration the continued sponsorship of the Christian pilgrims to the Holy land by the governor in spite of economic downturn in the country.
“There is a good relationship between the Christian community and the government of the day in the state, our religious leaders and the state government are working in good ties; we think that this is made possible through the efficient representation and hardworking Special Adviser to the Governor on Inter- Religious Affairs, W. T. Iwo”.
“We, the Christian youths are happy with what the governor is doing in the state. It is unprecedented in the history of the state and we think he deserves our commendations and support”, he stated.
He used the opportunity to express their continued support for the present administration in the state.
