The Rivers State Deputy Governor, Dr. Ipalibo Harry Banigo has commended the security agencies in the state for their efforts at curbing security threats in the state.
The deputy governor made this commendation during a security meeting between the JTF commanders and the chairmen of the caretaker committees of Ahoada- East, Ahoada-West and Akuku-Toru local government areas at Government House in Port Harcourt.
Banigo, who spoke through her Senior Special Assistant on Security, Elder Emmanuel Ibama said the meeting, which she described as highly successful, was aimed at proffering solutions to security challenges and make the state one hundred percent safe.
According to her, the meeting has afforded her and the caretaker committee chairmen the opportunity to have a firsthand knowledge of the enormous work the JTF was doing to curb oil bunkering and other forms of criminality in the region.
She said the Governor Nyesom Wike-led administration will continue to provide the necessary support to sustain the onslaught against criminals in Rivers State.
Speaking on behalf of the caretaker committee chairmen, the Chairman, Caretaker Committee of Ahoada-East Local Government Area, Barrister Sunny Ideozu, who thanked the Joint Task Force commanders for their efforts at stamping out criminality in Ahoada-East and West, said they were ready to partner with the security forces to put an end to criminality in their domains as directed by the state Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike.
Present at the meeting were JTF Commander, Sector 3, Operation Delta Safe, Col Fadairo Ayobami Oluremi; Commanding Officer, 130 Battalion, Harry’s Town, Lt. Col A. M. Ahamdu; CTC Chairman, Ahoada-East, Barrister Sunny Ideozu, CTC Chairman, Ahoada- West, Ezekiel Agri and the Chairman, CTC, Akuku-Toru LGA, Ere Manuel.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
