Delta, Firm Sign MoU On Health Finance Management
The Delta State Government, last Tuesday in Asaba signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Interswitch Group for a health financing management platform and online electronic payment system.
The agreement also included e-CLAT Healthcare for provision of identity and healthcare management solutions in primary and secondary health care centres in the state.
The official signing of the agreement between officials of Interswitch and the state government was part of the Strategic Implementation Plan for the Delta Contributory Health Scheme.
The Secretary to Delta State Government, Mr Festus Agas, described the agreement as apt, saying that it would enhance payment of premium for the health scheme.
He also said the agreement would afford the state an opportunity to store its data and carry out other programmes that would enhance health care delivery in the state.
Agas said that Governor Ifeanyi Okowa placed premium on human capital development which could not be achieved without the health of the people being given priority.
He described health of the people as the wealth of the state.
Dr Ben Nkechika, the Director-General, Delta Contributory Health Commission, said that the scheme would register indigenes across the state through the ICT platform.
According to him, the commission would operate from all accredited public and private health care facilities in the state.
Nkechika said the ICT platform would involve a registration and authentication system.
He also said the platform would include an enterprise management system for premium payments and management, a data storage system, as well as a financial management system for the commission’s operations.
Nkechika said that registration would take place at fixed and mobile locations across the state, while the payment system would be via POS, Quick Teller, cash at banks, Web payment and ATMs.
Mrs Chinyere Okhuofu, the Interswitch Divisional Chief Executive Officer, Industry Vertical Market, commended the Delta State Government for being at the forefront of making the contributory health scheme a reality.
