Firm, NGO Reward 12 UBE Pupils
As part of its efforts to motivate students in junior secondary schools in Rivers State, a publishing firm, Biz Pages Limited in collaboration with a Non Governmental Organisation (NGO), Initiator of the Inspired has rewarded twelve 12 pupils from Universal Basis Education (UBE) Model Primary schools 1 and 2, Oromenike in D-Line, Port Harcourt, for being the best in their classes.
The event, which took place at the school premises recently, was part of the corporate social responsibility of the publishing firm to encourage students of secondary schools.
Former Commissioner for Employment Generation, Sir Alaye Eremie, commended the organizers of the programme, stating that the reward would inspire the students to get more involved in their academic works.
Eremie, who is the Ambassador of the Initiator of the Inspired, said the programme is a laudable initiative because of the potential and positive benefits that are derivable in terms of arousing a strong and sound reading and writing culture in the lives of the pupils and the society at large.
According to him, “As a father, I would appeal to parents to create time out of their very busy schedule to teach their children and inculcate in them good moral values that would help shape their future in the positive direction.
The former commissioner further commended the Head Mistresses and teachers of the two schools for their efforts and also encouraged the pupils who didn’t win to brace up and study hard so that they can be the beneficiaries next year.
He also expressed gratitude to the management of Biz Pages Limited for the initiative and promised to support them in whichever way he can to achieve the overall objectives which are basically to aid the education of our children.
Eremie in partnership with Biz Pages Limited, however, donated copies of each of his 3 books to the 12 awardees as they all received certificates of excellence with a handsome cash reward.
