The Nation’s Editorial Of Monday …Media Partisanship Taken Too Far

Nobody expects The Nation to be fair to the Rivers State Governor , Chief Nyesom Wike. The reason is simple.
Governor Wike is one of the most outstanding state governors of this era, with a high record of performance and he belongs to the Peoples Democratic Party , (PDP).
It goes without saying that The Nation is permanently interested in promoting the interest of its political party, the APC by any means possible .
Therefore , the Monday, October 24, 2016 Editorial of The Nation titled: “A Tale of Two Governors” is yet another attempt by the pro-APC newspaper to trivialise issues that centre on the defence of due process and the rule of law.
The entire editorial is a frivolous and baseless attempt by the APC to cast aspersions on the promotion of the rule of law by a governor who brought to national attention, the illegal abduction plot of agents of the DSS on the judiciary.
All well meaning Nigerians and the National Judicial Council have condemned the clampdown on the judiciary by the DSS, especially the illegal midnight raids. Even by The Nation’s partisan standard , this editorial is ridiculous .
If The Nation had attempted to investigate the matter as they relate to Rivers State , they would have discovered that all the Judges of the Federal High Court , Port Harcourt, have been sitting unhindered after the failed illegal abduction by the DSS on October 8, 2016.
For the avoidance of doubt , Governor Wike is not opposed to the investigation of judges and he will never support a corrupt judge.
However , the governor will always defend the rule of law , no matter the media blackmail and propaganda deployed by the APC and her agents.
The Nation has been detailed by the APC national leadership to promote false reports and editorials about Rivers State . The newspaper’s regular negative false reports and features have been largely ignored , but we are alarmed that The Nation can descend this low in its desperation to serve the interest of her paymasters .
Governor Wike is building a culture of the rule of law in Rivers State which has led to enhanced peace and security across the communities of the state. Nobody will be allowed to derail the rebuilding process.
