Mrs Wike Advocates Home-Made Foods …Advises Girls On Basic Hygiene
The First Lady of Riv
ers State, Justice Eberechi Suzzette Nyesom-Wike, has called for the preference of home-made foods over junk foods.
Speaking as a guest at the opening ceremony of the Medical Women’s Week in Port Harcourt Tuesday, Justice Mrs Wike said that health conditions to a large extent are dependent on what is taken into the body.
She called for caution over what we take into our system as she emphasised “we are what we eat.”
In another development, the wife of the Rivers State governor, has called on the students of Archdeacon Crowther Memorial Girls Secondary School, Elelenwo, to observe to the letter, the rules of hygiene as that will ensure their good health as they go about their studies in school.
She also emphasised the importance of looking presentable as well groomed girls, a virtue she maintained would make them adorable and acceptable to both their immediate environment and the society at large.
The First Lady of Rivers State made these observations during a special school reach out programme to mark the 2016 International Day of the Girl-child at the Archdeacon Crowther Memorial Girls Secondary School, Elelenwo, Tuesday.
On her concern about girl-child education, Justice Wike urged all female children to work towards acquiring tertiary education as a guarantee to improved living condition.
“When you attend tertiary school, you delay marriage. Child marriage breeds a circle of poverty which negatively affects society. When a girl eventually gets married after tertiary education, she will have a lot more maturity than she would have as a child bride.
“Education broadens her horizon to be a better wife, better mother and better stakeholder in the society. Education further helps the equipped mother in raising the next generation,” she said.
Meanwhile, the First Lady had appealed to the paramount ruler of Elelenwo, Nyenweli Sunny Chukwu and other traditional rulers to support girl-child education as the nation would develop faster with well educated women.
