ASALGANs Extol Wike’s Feats
Members of the
Grassroots Development Initiative (DGI) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Asari-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State, have extolled Governor Nyesom Wike for the appointment of Alhaji Mustapha Jackrich, as Chairman of the State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, describing the gesture as honour done to the people.
The leader of the delegation, Chief Odiari C. Princeiwill made the commendation when he led the executive of the GDI and PDP in Asari-Toru LGA to pay a solidarity visit to the State Chairman of the Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board in his office in Port Harcourt, yesterday.
Princewill, who doubles as PDP and GDI leader in the local government said the visit was to express their gratitude to the state governor for the opportunity given their son to serve in that capacity, adding that it was the first time some-body from the area was occupying the position.
He said that what the state governor has done within the period in office has surpassed the previous administration’s in the state, and assured the governor of the support of his people to his administration.
Also speaking, the PDP Chairman in the LGA, Evangelist Jerry T. Amachree, said that the state governor has created a peaceful atmosphere in the state, adding that the people of the area were overwhelmed by the appointment of their son as the Chairman of Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board.
He assured the Chairman of the board of their support to encourage him to succeed in his assignment.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
