Rivers, Bauchi Partner On Water Sector Dev
The Rivers State and
Bauchi State Ministry of Water Resources have pledged to strengthen their partnership to expand water and sanitation coverage in the country.
The Bauchi State Commissioner for Water Resources Hon. Mohammed Ghali Abdulhamed said this, when he paid a courtesy visit to the Rivers State Commissioner for Water Resources, Chief Ibiba Walter, in his office in Port Harcourt.
While briefing the commissioner on the collaboration between the two states in the sector, he commended the Rivers State government for the level of development in the sector.
According to him, the visit was aimed at sustaining positive impact in the water sector within the country.
Abdulhamed added that their observations would help the enhancement of strategies and the utilization of water resources in Bauchi State.
The Bauchi State commissioner also assured them that their choice of Rivers is not misplaced, adding that Rivers has gone a long way in its water reform programme.
Abdulhamed also urged the delegates from the Bauchi State Ministry of Water Resources to borrow a leaf from the Rivers State Ministry for continues management and development in their various departments of the ministry.
Also speaking, the Rivers State Commissioner for Water Resources, Chief Ibiba Walter, thanked the delegation from Bauchi for their visit to the state, as it was insightful.
Walter assured them that the state would always support them in improving the water resources of the country.
The Rivers State Commissioner further reiterated the state government’s commitment to ensuring the distribution of water throughout the state.
He also noted that the state government has started refurbishing its water infrastructure to improve water supply and enable more people have access to water.
The commissioner described the visit as homely stressing that his ministry has learnt new things that would benefit the state from Bauchi.
