Job Scam: India Nabs Two Nigerians
Two Nigerians living in New Delhi, India have been arrested by the Cyber Crime wing of Cyberabad police for allegedly cheating a woman by promising her a job with Qatar Airways.
The two suspects were arrested on Saturday.
Their victim had last month received an email from: qatarhsconsultantjob@gmail.com informing her about a job opportunity with Qatar Airways for the post of assistant manager with a salary of £7,900.
On the same day, the victim received a telephone call from the two. They asked her to deposit 25,000 Rupees in a particular bank account.
“She deposited the amount in the given account and, the same day, she received another email saying that they have deposited £50,000 in RBS and sent to local branch.
“Further, they asked her to deposit an amount of 45,000 Rupees in SBI A/c No. 20279674949 of Sumi Holi with IFSC code SBIN0012267. The victim believed and made the payment,” the investigating officers said.
Later, she became suspicious about the job offer and approached police, who in turn arrested Michael James and Umeadi Valentine Chigozie, both residents of Delhi.
Police recovered 52 SIM cards, three laptops, five mobile phones and two data cards from them.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
