Miss Waboso Becomes Author At Five

The Bible’s prophecy that
at the last days, knowledge will abound, could best be said to have found fulfilment in the life of little Miss Waboso Meryl, a primary 4 pupil and Press Club member of Chokmah Int’l Academy, Port Harcourt.
Born 8 years ago to the family of Dr and (Mrs) Idawarifaa Felix Waboso, Meryl Diekramabo Waboso as she is known, began her debut into the pen fraternity while she was yet a grade I pupil of the International Bible Christian Fellowship School Port Harcourt, with the publication of her first book “Stories From My Heart”, three years
Today, Miss Meryl has a second book to her credit titled: “Rivers From Within” with the third book almost ready to hit the book stand interesting isn’t it? Now, what actually propelled this little Abia-born damsel into the litrary world, drew the writer’s attention hence more anxious about unraveiling the mystery behind the girl Meryl Waboso.
In an interview with The Tides Woman Editor, Sylvia ThankGod-Amadi, this beautiful creature
revealed a lot than any could ordinarily expect or even suspect of any neophyte like her. Highly talented as could be deduced from her speech, Merys; adventure into the world of authors, was gathered to have been triggered obviously by her passion for knowledge, ignited by the activities of Daniella Clinton Dan Jumbo, a friend of hers who within a very short time, published three books to the chagrin of Meryls.
Her book: “Stories From The Heart”, was a collection of short stories, facilitated through her observatory prowess, as she converted every situation around her into formation, entertainment and education. The entire content of the 29 – page book, ranging from ” I love God, The King and His Two Sons, Meryl in The Dream Land, Betty in the kitchen down to the Lion and The Dog were all informed by situations the author personally encountered.
But that is not all about Meryl, in her words, “three to four months after I published my first work, ” Stories From My Heart”, I thought of another publication that would make me more famous”. Meryl’s desire for fame, gave birth to her, second work: “Rivers From Within”, ever since, her pen has not ceased to flow.
Although the girl Meryl naturally radiates joy and beauty, these features of her are further consolidated by the consciousness of her status as an author, one that distinguishes her from her peers.
Meryl is not alone in her world, she also derives her strength, and inspirations from other people’s work whom she describes as her models. “I like Daniella Clinton Dan Jumbo very well. Her literary work inspired me a great deal, all her stories are nice and she is wonderful at story telling and her stories are usually longer and enticing. I also read William Shakespeare, he is a very nice author, he wrote plenty books that don’t fade eg Romeo and Juliet, Lamb Tales from Shakespeare, Midnight Summer, and Enchanted Castle” etc she said.
She continued, “What I like in Shakespeare is his intelligence and how he comes up with ideas. I cherish his work “Lamb Tales from Shakespeare because the book talks about emotions: Happiness, Sadness, Caring for one another etc”
Like every other child, Meryl watches television, reads her school books as well as play with other children in the neighbourhood some times as her leisure activities.
She encourages other children to read more, write stories and insist that their works are published.
She however, calls on the Rivers State Government, through the Ministry of Education to organize a book fare in Port Harcourt and extend an invitation to her to use the platform to teach children how to write stories.
