Banigo Urges Synergy In Anti-Crime War
The Rivers State Deputy Governor, Dr Ipalibo Harry Banigo, has called on the people of the state, irrespective of their party inclinations to join hands with the state Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, in tracking down criminal elements and cultists in the state.
According to Banigo, every peace loving Rivers man and woman should unite and offer useful tips to security agencies to fight crime wave in the state rather than trade blames, pointing out that security was a collective responsibility.
In a statement through her Press Secretary, Paul Damgbor, the deputy governor said the opposition party should not misrepresent the position of Wike in seeking the support of the military to tackle kidnapping and cult activities in some parts of the state, stressing that the demand by an opposition party for military presence and participation for political reasons was anti-democratic.
Banigo expressed surprise that while the governor was working hard to encourage security agents to stem the tide of criminality and cult-related crime in the state, some politicians are still in the unholy habit of playing politics with security issues.
