Lawyer Hails RSG’s Plan On Non-ICT Compliant Schools

ment has been commended over plans to de-register private schools that are not information and communication Technology (ICT) compliant.
The Tide gathered that the state government through the commissioner for Education Prof. Kaniye Ebeku announced its readiness not to register private schools in the state without ICT facility.
In a chat with newsmen in Port Harcourt over the week, Barr Temple N. Ejekwu, said the move was part of demonstration of Governor Nyesom Wike’s vision to overhaul the educational system in the state.
He said it was now old fashioned for any educational establishment to be allowed to operate without an ICT department.
Ejekwu who also is the paramount ruler/Nye Nwe Eli Rumuogba, noted that ICT was the latest educational tool and should not be denied any student.
The Monarch maintained that any modern learning environment ought to be saddled with e-learning equipment, saying that the state government’s decision on non-ICT functional schools was a welcomed development.
According to him, it only takes a focused government to think on how to improve on the lives of its citizens in-line with global recommendation.
Ejekwu who also is a serving member of the Ignatius Ajuru University Education. Governing Council, stressed that ICT has taken the hub of modern learning system and should be viewed in that light.
The Tide further learnt that the state government has concluded plans to stop all the primary and secondary schools in the state without the latest design of computers.
In his submission, the paramount ruler, called on the concerned authorities not to relent on the plans to deregister private schools without ICT provisions so as to act as a propelling force in the sector.
