Oil Firm Commits To Assisting Less Privileged Persons
The Nigerian Agip Oil
Company (NAOC) has re-affirmed its commitment to identify with less privileged persons in the state.
The NAOC Assistant Manager, Government Liaison, Mrs Grace Okpoyo, who made the assertion Friday while handing over items worth, thousands of naira to the Rivers State Commissioner of Social Welfare and Rehabilitation, Hon. Damiete Herbert Miller, said the items will cushion the harsh economic conditions of Home for the Elderly, persons with disability and Rehabilitation Centre in the state.
She said in spite of the oil glut, NAOC and its joint venture partners would continue to live up to the tenet of its corporate social responsibility (CSR).
According to her, the items donated include 35 wheel chairs, 25 crutches, 10 packets of tissue paper, 45 bags of rice (50kg), 20 cartons of frozen chicken, 22 blankets, 30 bed sheets, 20 hand crutches, 38 bottles of vegetable oil (3 litres) and 19 cartons of milk.
In his Speech while receiving the items, the state commissioner lauded the magnanimity of Agip for complementing the efforts of the state government towards improving the standard of living of inmates of the respective homes and centre.
He solicited for Agip’s support and partnership with the state government to enhance the living condition of the centers, specially shelter, deplorable infrastructure, environment and the general wellbeing of the respective centres.
The commissioner assured distribution of the items to the respective homes as well as make presentation in this regard to the Rivers State Governor, while urging other corporate bodies to emulate NAOC’s gesture.
The Principal of Rehabilitation Centre, Iriebe in Obio/Akpor lLocal Government Area, Assor Livinus, thanked NAOC for contributing towards the uplift of the less previlleged in the state, noting that government cannot carry the burden of rehabilitation alone.
On behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr. Kie Obomanu gave kudos to Agip for setting an exemplary pace worthy of emulation, urging them not to relent in their efforts towards enhancing the lives of the less previlleged in the state.

NCDMB Partner Dafinone For Youths Technical Skills Training
Reports say that the training is designed to equip youths with practical technical skills for employment in the oil and gas and construction sectors, with emphasis on employability, safety, competence and self reliance.
In attendance at the flag-off ceremony this week, at the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI) Conference Hall, Effurun, were stakeholders, dignitaries, and political representatives, among others.
Dafinone, represented by his Chief of Staff, Adelabu Bodjor, said the initiative reflects a deliberate political investment in human capital development across Delta Central.
He explained that the training focuses on rigging and scaffolding, noting that “both are essential technical competencies required in industrial operations, construction projects, and oil and gas installations”.
Bodjor added, “The programme is intended to reduce dependency among youths by providing job-ready skills capable of supporting long-term economic opportunities and self-sufficiency. The initiative aligns with Senator Dafinone’s broader development agenda, which prioritises practical skill acquisition as a pathway to sustainable empowerment.”
Also addressing the participants, the NCDMB, Felix Omatsola Ogbe, represented by Mr. Teddy Bai, commended Dafinone for sponsoring the programme, describing it as “a timely response to critical manpower gaps in the industry”.
Bai explained that rigging and scaffolding remain safety-sensitive skills required across fabrication yards, offshore platforms, and construction sites, stressing that the programme bridges the gap between certification and practical competence.
He also charged the training consultant, OROH Contractors Limited, to maintain strict standards of professionalism, safety, and discipline, while urging participants to remain committed, focused, and disciplined throughout the exercise.
The Senate Liaison Officer for Sapele Local Government Area, Chief Patrick Akamuvba, , described the programme as a major step in strengthening human capital development in Delta Central.
Akamuvba said scaffolding and rigging skills are in high demand across residential, commercial, and industrial construction projects, noting that the training offers real employment opportunities for beneficiaries
He urged participants to prioritise knowledge and certification over short-term material expectations, stressing that discipline and seriousness would determine their long-term success.
He also cautioned youths against social vices and distractions, advising them to remain focused to maximise the opportunities provided by the programme.
