Be More Security Conscious, NOA Tells Residents
The Rivers State Director, National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mr Oliver Wolugbom, has called on residents of the state to be more security conscious.
Wolugbom said the call has become necessary owing to available security report to the agency. He stated that the present successes being recorded by the military in the fight against terrorism in the North East of the country had displaced many members of the terrorist group (Boko Hararn) who are possibly finding their way down South looking for soft targets, including worship centres, motor parks, event centres and market places.
The NOA boss therefore charged churches and mosques to beef up security around their buildings especially during worship hours and ensure that people are properly screened before allowing them access to the worship centres .
Wolugbom further urged market men and women, travelers at motor parks, school heads and teachers to be security alert and very vigilant and report all suspicious movement of characters to security agents. He also cautioned pupils and students not to move in large groups after school hours to avoid being target of attack.
The NOA director advised all citizens to always be on guard and go about their lawful activities even as he charged the people to support the government to rid the society of bad elements who are bent on running down the country.
