RIWAMA Does Not Collect Sanitation Levy – Sole Administrator
The Sole Administrator
of the Rivers State Waste Management Agency (RIWAMA), Bro Felix Obuah, says the agency does not collect any form of sanitation levy from the general public for waste disposal.
Speaking to newsmen in his office shortly after a meeting with about 100 company chief executives and representatives on Thursday, Obuah said the agency does not encourage multiple taxation of companies operating in the state.
He warned that anyone who indulged in illegal levy and multiple tax collection did that at his peril.
Bro Obuah who is also the Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state reiterated the agency’s commitment to ensuring the environmental cleanliness of Port Harcourt and its environs in line with the present administration’s resolve.
He explained that the meeting was to synergise with the companies and acquaint them with the modus operandi of the agency in keeping Port Harcourt clean. According to him, the agency is at the moment creating enough awareness on the need to clean up Rivers State environment and urged all handst to be on deck to achieve the objective. Bro Obuah noted that the monthly environmental sanitation exercise had been successful since the inception of the Wike-led government and called on residents of Port Harcourt and the state in general to always come out enmasse during the exercise.
