We Won’t Tolerate Corruption Anymore -Osinbajo
The Vice President, Prof. Yomi Osinbajo, yesterday declared that the present administration would no longer tolerate corruption and other related acts.
Osinbajo made the declaration at the Internally Displaced Persons camp in Bajabure, Yola, Adamawa, where he said that the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led administration would run an open door policy.
“A lot of national resources had been siphoned in the past by few greedy individuals.
“Our present administration will no longer tolerate any corruption or related practices,” the vice president said.
On the plight of the IDPs, he said that he was in Yola on the instruction of President Muhammadu Buhari to find out the exact situation and living condition of the IDPs.
He said that Buhari was more concern about the conditions of orphans, widows and children affected by the insurgency.
Osinbajo confirmed that Federal Government would reconstruct all structures in communities destroyed by activities of Boko Haram in the North East region.
He gave assurance that all structures including houses, schools, markets and places of worship, among others, would be reconstructed.
“I am here to get first hand report on IDPs so as to pass it to Mr President for prompt action,” Osibanjo said.
Speaking earlier, Governor Muhammadu Bindo of Adamawa said that seven local government areas were overrun by Boko Haram and recaptured by military.
According to Bindo, the state requires not less than N200 billion to rehabilitate and re-settle the affected IDPs.
“About 300,000 people are affected while over 30,000 persons are accommodated in various IDPs camps across the state,” Bindo said.
Also, the NEMA camp Coordinator, Alhaji Sa’ad Bello, said that the most important thing now was how to resettle the IDPs.
He said that the agency and the state government have commenced the integration of over 5,000 IDPs who have already returned to their respective areas.
“More needs to be done to ensure smooth re-settlement of the IDPs in their respective villages and towns,” Bello said
