Total Assures Egi Students On Scholarship Payment
The management of Total
Exploration and Production Nigeria Limited has assured the Federated Egi Students Association (FESA) of the speedy payment of their scholarship.
The Deputy Managing Director, Sustainable Development, Mr Cyprian Ojum who said this during a peaceful protest by the students at the company’s head office at Trans/Amadi, Port Harcourt, regretted the delay in the payment of the scholarship.
Mr Ojum commended the students for conducting themselves in a peaceful manner and advised them to exercise patience as the issue was being addressed by the company.
Speaking on behalf of the students, the president federated Egi Students Association (FESA), Comrade Thomas Ndeze thanked the management of the company for its concern for the welfare of Egi students, stressing that “the students believe it is only through dialogue that positive results can be achieved.
Comrade Ndeze however frowned at the way and manner in which the scholarship was being managed and urged the management to ensure that all anomalies were addressed.
The president further requested for an increase in the number of international scholarship to 25 while the amount for the post-secondary scholarship should be increased from current N150,000 to N300,000.
However the capacity Development Manager, Total Exploration and Production Nigeria Limited, Mr Samuel Izidor said that the financial increment would be implemented as soon as the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was reviewed.
