Delta Youths Ground Activities Over Kidnapping
Youths in Udu Local
Government Area of Delta have brought commercial activities to a halt following the kidnapping of the President-General of Udu Kingdom, Mr Steve Sokoh.
Sokoh was allegedly abducted by unknown gunmen at about 8.p.m. on Thursday at New-York Junction/Udu road, Ovwian.
The angry youths blocked the Udu express road/Orhuworhun junctions and other adjoining roads carrying placards with the inscriptions: “No Sokoh, No Election”, “Govt. S.O.S, We love Chief Sokoh our P-G.’’
Addressing newsmen, the Youth Leader, Mr Sunday Subi, urged the criminals to release Sokoh unharmed and unconditionally.
He also appealed to the state and federal governments to intervene in the immediate release of the victim.
“What is happening now is that the President-General of Udu Kingdom, Mr Sokoh, has been kidnapped.
“The entire youths of Udu hereby demand for his immediate release otherwise there will be no election in Udu Local Government”, he said.
Also, Mr Paul Odiete, the President-General of the 32 communities in Udu kingdom, said activities would remain grounded in all the communities across Udu until Sokoh was released.
Mr Clement Ekperiebe, leader of a police team monitoring the protest, assured the people that the police were working towards the safe release of the victim.
