A renowned cleric in Port
Harcourt, Rev Stephen Akinola has urged youth to form cooperative societies to benefit from various schemes that would enhance their entrepreneurial development.
Rev Akinola who is the General Overseer of Redemption Ministries gave the charge during the graduation ceremony of a skill acquisition programme organized by Divine Daughters Destiny International of the Redemption Church in Port Harcourt yesterday.
The cleric who congratulated the graduands for successfully passing through the specialised training programme, noted that most people fail after acquiring skills because of the tendency to go solo, and urged the graduands to forge a common front to get a breakthrough in their respective careers.
He commended the organisers of the programme for giving the youth an opportunity to acquire new skills for wealth creation.
Speaking at the event, the President of the Divine Daughters of Destiny International, Pastor (Mrs) Grace Briggs, said the programme which was in its 3rd edition was designed to empower youths in Port Harcourt and its environs on skills acquisition and to make the beneficiaries financially independent.
She said over 1,000 participants graduated in various skills such as bead-making, catering, photography, event management, ICT, poultry, among others.
The president also urged the beneficiaries to take advantage of the training to enhance their economic fortunes in life.
