Late NUJ President For Burial, Sat …IMPAN Mourns
The remains of the late
Ndagene Akwu, former National President of Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, who passed on recently would be laid to rest on Saturday, August 2, 2014 in Port Harcourt.
This indication was given by the family of the late Akwu, who until his death was a staff of Rivers State Television.
Meanwhile, Ikwerre Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria, IMPAN, at a condolence visit to the family had described the death of Mr Akwu, their kinsman from Ogbakiri in the Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State as shocking and a great loss to Ikwerre ethnic nationality, Rivers State and Nigeria as a whole, especially because of his contributions to journalism practice and leadership in the sector
However rising from a meeting, the Ikwerre Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria said it has no business with an emergent group parading as Ikwerre practising journalists. IMPAN joins the Rivers state council of Nigeria Union of journalists and the bereaved family to invite the general public to Night of Tributes scheduled Friday, August 1, 2014 at NULGE consulate along Moscow road, Port Harcourt at 1pm and service of songs same day at Government Girls Secondary School, Rumuokuta at 6pm, the body further invites the general public to the burial ceremonies on Saturday in Port Harcourt to pay their last respects to the departed, according to a statement issue by the Public Relations Officer of IMPAN, Justice Ogbonna.
