NFF Plans Big For Eagles World Cup
The Nigeria Football As
sociation (NFA) says it has concluded arrangements to ensure a hitch-free preparation for the Super Eagles in the build up to the FIFA World Cup.
This is contained in a statement signed last Wednesday by NFA’s, Assistant Director of Communication, Ademola Olajire.
The 2014 World Cup is slated to hold from June 12 to July 13 in Brazil.
“I can tell you that the NFA is on top of the situation and not taking anything for granted.
“The FIFA World Cup is the biggest project there is in football and as far as the present NFA is concerned, every detail is important,” it said.
The statement said that two assistants of the association’s FIFA Match Agent had departed London for Philadelphia and U.S., to prepare the ground for the Eagles’ arrival on Thursday.
“After Wednesday night’s clash with Scotland’s Tartan Army, the Eagles’ delegation, led by NFA President Aminu Maigari, departed Thursday morning to Philadelphia aboard a British Airways plane.
“After playing Greece at Philadelphia Union Stadium on June 3, the Eagles will move to Jacksonville, Florida, where they will stay at Hyatt Regency Jacksonville Riverfront on East Coastline Drive.
“They will play Juergen Klinsmann’s Team, U.S., in Jacksonville on June 7,” the statement said.
It added that on June 10, the African champions will leave for Sao Paulo, Brazil for the World Cup.
The statement said that the team would be met on arrival by FIFA’s transport and accommodation officials.
It said that the Super Eagles would be accommodated at the Victoria Hotel Concept in Campinas.
It noted that the hotel was inspected and approved by the Eagles’ head coach, Stephen Keshi, a day after the World Cup Draw in Salvador on Dec. 6, 2013.
The statement said FIFA would take over the team on arrival in Sao Paulo and make arrangements for chartered flights from Campinas to match venues in Curitiba, Cuiaba and Porto Alegre.

PH To Host 2026 NWFL Super Six
In a statement released by the league, the competition is scheduled to take place from Friday, June 5 to Sunday, June 14, 2026, with six clubs set to battle for the league title at the end of the 2025/26 season.
NWFL Chief Operating Officer, Modupe Shabi, said the choice of Port Harcourt reflects the Rivers State Government’s continued support for women’s football and its successful hosting of the league’s Annual General Assembly last year.
The Super Six tournament will feature the top three teams from Group A and Group B of the regular season competing in a round-robin format, with each club playing five matches over nine days.
Qualified teams for the competition include defending champions Bayelsa Queens, Edo Queens, Rivers Angels, Robo Queens, Nasarawa Amazons, and debutants Abia Angels.
The NWFL Premiership has produced four different winners in the last five editions, with Rivers Angels winning in 2021, Bayelsa Queens claiming the title in 2022 and 2025, Delta Queens triumphing in 2023, and Edo Queens emerging champions in 2024.
The league also urged participating clubs to comply with all competition regulations and directives ahead of the championship. The Super Six will determine Nigeria’s representative for the WAFU-B qualifiers for a place at the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League and ultimately the 2027 FIFA Women’s Champions Cup.
Teams are expected to arrive on Friday, June 5, when the draw ceremony and pre-match meeting will also take place. Matchdays are scheduled for June 6, 8, 10, 12, and 14, with rest days in between before the tournament concludes with the trophy presentation ceremony.
