Chairman Okays Three-Star Hotel In Opobo
The three star hotel,
Opubo hotel, built by the immediate past government of Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Council of Rivers State, has been described as the best tourism project ever embarked upon by any local government area in Nigeria.
The Caretaker Committee Chairman of Opobo/Nkoro, Hon. Mike Donald Igolima, said while receiving the handover notes from the immediate past council chairman, Warisenibo Maclean Bethel Uranta, said that his administration will follow the development model of Governor Rotimi Amaechi by empowering the people and putting up essential projects and services that will facilitate the development of the area.
Igolima called on investors to come over to Opobo/Nkoro and avail themselves of the laudable opportunities in the area so as to take advantage of the abundant aquatic, marine, historical, cultural and tourism indices like the Opobo International Boat regatta, the annual Nwoatam festival, the Egeribite and Bibite ceremonies, saying that the peaceful, secured, and hospitable nature of the people makes the area investors’ haven.
Hon. Igolima had earlier charged the newly sworn in members of the Caretaker Committee of the council to be selfless, dedicated, and committed in moving Opobo/Nkoro to a greater height, promising to build upon the foundation laid by past administrations.
Those sworn in were Senibo Marshall Tolofari – Supervisor for Works, Mr. Atonyesia Peterside – Agriculture/Environment, Ms. Ibimina Opusunju – Culture and Tourism, Mr. Boma Omubo Pepple – Education, Mr. Tamuno Kpokpo – Youths/Sports while Mrs. Comfort Victor Obomanu is for Health.
Meanwhile, Hon. Mike Donald Igolima, has harped on the need for peaceful co-existence among Nigerians and commended the immediate past Chairman of the council, Warisenibo Maclean Bethel Uranta for making the area one of the most peaceful local government areas in the country, promising to build on it.
Hon. Igolima, who made the remarks in a speech during the handover ceremony, called on the people to give his administration the needed support to enable them continue enjoying the peaceful and safe atmosphere which he said was a catalyst to providing democracy dividends.
Earlier, the former Chairman of the Council, Warisenibo Maclean Bethel Uranta, expressed gratitude to God, and to all the people for their immense support and advice throughout his two tenures as chairman of the council.
He advised Igolima to listen to everyone that has something to tell him but always pray to God for wisdom to enable him decipher the best steps to take at all times and wished him success.
