Seminatari Extols Women’s Role In Fastering Unity …As Ifeyinwa Omowole Emerges NAWOJ President
The commissioner of
information in Rivers Sate, Mrs Ibim Seminatari has reiterated the vita role of women in fostering unity in the nation.
The commissioner made this known during an interview with newsmen shortly after the opening ceremony of the delegate conference of Nigeria Association of Women Journalist (NAWOJ) at Badagry Lagos last week.
Seminatari noted the need for women journalist to work hard in combating the challenges that come with their jobs.
Rivers information boss said that “women look at humanity before looking at tribe and tongue,” adding that it is time for NAWOJ to work as a team with other associations to achieve unity and peace in the nation.
Meanwhile, Mrs Ifeyinwa Omowole of News Agency of Nigeria has emerged the new president of NAWOJ .
Omowole after the election at Administrative Staff Collage of Nigeria (ASCON) polled 469 votes to defeat her opponent , Mrs Fatima Abdull-Kareem, who scored 198 votes other executive members include; Deputy President, Oladimeji Biliqees Modupe, while Ladi Patrick Adams is the National Secretary.
There were also Vice Presidents and secretaries representing the five zones in the federation (A-F).
In her acceptance speech after the election, the president Mrs Ifenyinwa Omowole pledged to give NAWOJ a responsive leadership that would encourage capacity building of its members to enhance their profession.
Omowole said she would run an inclusive administration that would not only impact on the association but on journalism profession.
