Sharks, Dolphins Win At Home
Sharks FC recorded a com
fortable 3-0 win over Crown FC in a Week 4 game of the Glo Premier League played at the Sharks Stadium in Port Harcourt, on Saturday afternoon.
The match started in lethargic fashion with both sides struggling to create any clear chances. A free-kick was awarded in favour of the hosts in the 10th minute, but Nathaniel Joseph blazed his set-piece over the bar.
Sharks then took the lead after they were awarded a penalty in the 16th minute, which was duly converted by their goalkeeper, Danladi Isah, who sent Uweru the wrong way.
Ifeanyi Inyam doubled Sharks FC’s lead four minutes later, as he shot past Uweru after receiving a sublime pass from Kelly Kester. Kester nearly extended the advantage for the hosts 10 minutes later with a shot from 30-yards, but his effort hit the side-netting.
In a show of solidarity before half-time, supporters of Dolphins FC teamed up with the supporters of their City rivals to cheer the Blue Angels to victory against the visitors from Ogbomosho.
Obomate headed in the third goal for Sharks in the 64th minute after great build-up play by Kester and Odinga Odinga who provided the assist.
Wild chants of ‘ Odinga Odinga’, for the club’s long serving captain continued for minutes as the Blue Angels recorded a comfortable home win.
Dolphins came from behind to beat visiting Sunshine Stars 2-1 in a Week 4 game of the Glo Premier League played in Port Harcourt as part of a double header at the Sharks Stadium.
Former Rangers hitman Oghogho Oduokpe curled in a free-kick as early as the fourth minute to give the visiting Akure Gunners a first-half lead.
Dolphins were offered a chance to level eight minutes later after Ifeanyi Egwim was brought down inside the box, but Isiaka Olawale wasted the resulting spot-kick as his poor attempt was easily gathered by Ekene Ezenwa.
Later in the same venues, Dolphins continued to search for an equaliser but Sunshine carried their advantage into the interval.
Parity was restored in the 54th minute when Oduokpe turned from hero to villain as he scored an own goal off an initial effort from Emem Eduok. The hosts, however, suffered a setback five minutes later as Hope Fibresima was sent off for a hard tackle on Kingsley Eduwo.
Eduok eventually scored the winner for Dolphins in the 79th minute as his free-kick took a wicked deflection that beat Ezenwa.

PH To Host 2026 NWFL Super Six
In a statement released by the league, the competition is scheduled to take place from Friday, June 5 to Sunday, June 14, 2026, with six clubs set to battle for the league title at the end of the 2025/26 season.
NWFL Chief Operating Officer, Modupe Shabi, said the choice of Port Harcourt reflects the Rivers State Government’s continued support for women’s football and its successful hosting of the league’s Annual General Assembly last year.
The Super Six tournament will feature the top three teams from Group A and Group B of the regular season competing in a round-robin format, with each club playing five matches over nine days.
Qualified teams for the competition include defending champions Bayelsa Queens, Edo Queens, Rivers Angels, Robo Queens, Nasarawa Amazons, and debutants Abia Angels.
The NWFL Premiership has produced four different winners in the last five editions, with Rivers Angels winning in 2021, Bayelsa Queens claiming the title in 2022 and 2025, Delta Queens triumphing in 2023, and Edo Queens emerging champions in 2024.
The league also urged participating clubs to comply with all competition regulations and directives ahead of the championship. The Super Six will determine Nigeria’s representative for the WAFU-B qualifiers for a place at the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League and ultimately the 2027 FIFA Women’s Champions Cup.
Teams are expected to arrive on Friday, June 5, when the draw ceremony and pre-match meeting will also take place. Matchdays are scheduled for June 6, 8, 10, 12, and 14, with rest days in between before the tournament concludes with the trophy presentation ceremony.
