Group Partners TIC On Youth Empowerment
The Supreme Coali
tion, an NGO, says it has partnered with Technology Incubation Center (TIC), Calabar in training and empowering 285 youths in Cross River, State.
The Leader of the organisation, Mr Edet Asia, told newsmen in Calabar that the youths had been trained in welding, soap making, confectioneries and tailoring.
Asia said the training was designed to make the youths self-reliant and keep them away from vices associated with unemployment.
“We have initiated many programmes on youth empowerment. We entered into partnership with TIC, Calabar. The partnership has resulted in the training of 285 people”, he said.
He said the group had also acquired a large expanse of land at Akim Akim in Odukpani Local Government Area for agriculture.
Asia said the group was collaborating with the Cross River Basin Development Authority on irrigation because of the nature of the soil.
According to him, Supreme Coalition was planning another entrepreneurial training programme for some other youths at the South-South Zonal Enterprises Development Centre in Calabar.
“We are looking forward to having 200 persons for the training. We want to help the youths pass through entrepreneurial training scheme before they can handle money.
“We have written to partner with the National Directorate of Employment. “We have sent a proposal to them that we want to train 200 youths across the state on different skills, ‘’ he said.
He commended the state government for providing the enabling environment for the organisation’s training programmes.
