HOS Commends The Rivers Bureaucrat’s Editorial Team
The fifth edition of The Rivers Bureaucrat, a magazine published by the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of Rivers State, has come out with an expose on issues surrounding alleged deductions from workers salaries.
The magazine, which has the lead story entitled, ‘Salary Cut: The True Story’, explains the reasons behind the rumours that workers salaries were being reduced arbitrarily.
It also contains topical issues such as ‘The Essence of Pay Slips’, ‘Accessing the Free Medical Care Programme of the State Government’, Retirees Pension Documentation in 29 days’ and ‘Loopholes in the New Tax Law’, among others.
Receiving copies of the magazine in his office in Port Harcourt, the Head of Service, Barr Samuel LongJohn thanked members of the Editorial Board for coming out with the second edition within his first year in office and advised them to ensure that the publication was circulated widely to enable all sectors of the public service and the general public benefit from its content.
He urged them not to rest on their oars and begin work on the next edition in earnest as well as strive to improve on every edition so as to meet the demands and expectations of the public service.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Editorial Board, Ms Kadilo Brown, who is also the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, had thanked the Head of Service for giving them the opportunity to serve and pledged to put in their best to ensure that they contribute to improve service delivery through effective enlightenment and education of the workforce.
The magazine, published biannually, is sold for N200 per copy and can be purchased from designated sales outlets and newsstands in the State Secretariat Complex as well as the Office of the Head of Service, 9th floor, Wing A, Point Block, State Secretaiat Complex, Port Harcourt.
