Dame Amaechi Uncovers Decomposing Body Of 90-Yr Old Woman
Wife of Rivers State Governor, Dame Judith Amaechi, has discovered the decomposing corpse of a 90- year woman in Ihugbogo community, Ahoada East Local Government Area of the state.
Dame Amaechi made the discovery at the start of the door-to-door distribution of food and other gift items to indigent women in the 23 local government areas of the state, last weekend.
The 90-year old woman, Ada Ope, who had died three days earlier, was found in her room at about 2.52pm, as the governor’s wife stormed the house to deliver gifts to the old woman.
The governor’s wife, who expressed shock at the discovery, immediately directed the local government chairman to ensure that the corpse was removed and deposited in a mortuary.
Confirming the discovery, the Ahoada East Local Government Chairman, Hon Cassidy Ikegbidi, said he had ordered that the corpse be deposited in a nearby mortuary.
Ikegbidi explained that the door-to-door food and gifts distribution exercise introduced by the first lady helped to uncover the dead woman.
He praised the programme for assisting to alleviate poverty amongst the grassroots residents, and commended the wife of the state governor, Dame Judith Amaechi for the initiative.
Meanwhile, the wife of Rivers State Governor, Mrs Judith Amaechi, last weekend, began a tour of the 23 local government areas to present food and other gift items to indigent women in the state.
Dame Amaechi, who visited Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni, Ahoada West and Ahoada East Local Government Areas, said the exercise was intended to provide avenues for the alleviation of poverty amongst vulnerable and indigent women in the various local communities as part of her New Year and Valentine gifts to the people.
