Gunmen Abduct College Librarian
Rivers State Chapter Chairman of the Nigerian Library Association, Dr. Rasaq Femi Quadri has been kidnapped by unknown gunmen at Omoku, headquarters of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni local government area.
Sources informed The Tide that Dr. Quadri who is also the Librarian of the Federal College of Education (Technical), Omoku was kidnapped on Saturday October 13, 2012 in a village, near Omoku on his way to his residence.
Efforts to get the reaction of the Rivers State Police Command proved abortive as the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Ben Ugwuegbulam did not reply to the text message sent to him on the issue.
Meanwhile, the Rivers State Chapter of the Nigerian Library Association has condemned the alleged kidnap of its chairman, Dr. Rasaq Femi Quadri.
In a press release signed by Dr. P.C. Aziagba and made available to The Tide, the Association’s first vice and the Public relations Officer, Mr. Emmanuel Okwu described the incident as a big shock to the Association.
The Association described the act as criminal and appealed to the kidnappers to unconditionally release him.
“We strongly condemn this criminal act and appeal to the government and security agencies to help secure his immediate release”, the Association said.
