FRSC Mounts Campaign Against Under Age Drivers
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Katsina State has embarked on an aggressive enlightenment campaigns against underage driving across the state as part of its safety campaign.
The State FRSC Commander, Alhaji Habu Dauba who told newsmen in Katsina said the campaign also involved cautioning children riding bicycles on major roads.
He said that the focus of the campaign became necessary due to the increasing cases of accidents involving such children in the state.
He said, “We have mobilised the marshals and NYSC members in the campaigns that are being held at public places in major towns of the state, as part of efforts toward addressing the situation.
“It is a very worrisome, but we are using persuasion to convince their parents towards stopping the act.
“We also visit commercial bicycles owners to advise them against hiring bicycles to small children, all with the aim of controlling the menace.”
Dauda, who said road accident had reduced drastically in the state within the last three months, called on the public, especially drivers and motorcyclists to ensure strict compliance with traffic rules and regulations.
